Junior Education -Cambridge Primary Checkpoint

Junior Education – Cambridge Primary Checkpoint

• The junior educational program is a combination of the Cambridge Primary Checkpoint and the National Curriculum of Egypt for Arabic, Religion, and Social Studies to prepare the students for the mandatory examinations.
• English is the main language of instruction, but we strive to ensure that students become fluent in at least two foreign languages.
• It is an exceptional primary program, which gives a solid foundation in English, Mathematics, and Science for 5-11 years-old students.
• It revolves around clear learning objectives for each year and subject, as well as an effective assessment.
• The curriculum ensures balanced learning, giving students invigorating learning experience in various subjects, as well as art and athletics.
• Our curriculum is challenging, positively stimulating students to reach their full potential.
• At the end of Year 6, students take the International Primary Achievement Test which is marked by CIE. Successful students receive a Statement of Achievement from the Cambridge University. What every child learns in the Primary Stage class is what he/she needs to experience and understand in order to progress through the stepping-stones of this learning stage.

Middle School (Pre-IGCSE)

• This stage is vital for the students’ educational path. It’s the bridge to cross from childhood to adolescence and young adulthood.
• At SFS, we are eager to pave this road in a constructive way where our students are both academically and personally enriched.
• Year 7 and 8 students are offered Cambridge Lower-Secondary Curriculum.
• By offering Cambridge Lower-Secondary, SFS provides a broad and balanced education for our learners, helping them to thrive throughout their schooling, work and life.
• The list of subjects our middle school students learn includes Math, Biology, Physics, Chemistry, English, English literature, and English conversation.
• In addition to the Cambridge Lower-Secondary subjects, SFS offers its students French or German, ICT, PE and Art as mandatory subjects.
• Arabic, Social Studies, and Religion are also taught in accordance with the curriculum of the Egyptian Ministry of Education.

Pre-IGSCE
• Year 9 exams are offered by Cambridge International Examinations.
• All the CIE qualifications are held and conducted by SFS independently because SFS is the Cambridge Independent International Centre.
• Y9 students are examined in English as a Second Language, Mathematics and the three Science subjects – Biology, Chemistry and Physics – at the ‘core’ level.
• Students are also required to study the Ministry of Education curriculum and to pass the Ministry Edadeya (the 3rd Preparatory) exam for the Arabic Language, Religion, and Social Studies.
• In addition to the core CIE subjects and Ministry subjects, students also study French/German and PE.
• Y9 students are required to attend their classes on the regular basis during the academic year.
• To be promoted to Year 10, students need to pass the five IGCSE core subjects they study.
• Passing grades are C-G, where Grade ‘C’ is the highest grade equivalent to 100% and Grade ‘G’ is the lowest pass grade, equivalent to 50% in the Egyptian national system.
